-
GROUNDED BABY BIRD?
1. Look at it's feathers. If the bird is mostly feathered, it is likely a fledgling learning to fly. Unless it is in imminent danger (i.e on a road), it is best to leave it alone as its parents are likely still caring for it. 2. If step 1 is ineffective, place it in a shrub nearby where you found it. 3. If it appears hurt or sick, contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator for more instructions.

WHY SHOULDN'T I HANDLE BIRDS?
While the tale of birds abandoning their young due to human touch is false, it is still ill-advised to handle birds due to their fragility and the risk of contacting avian influenza.

Membership Benefits
Hobbyist: Members of the Ornithology Club have the opportunity to engage with like-minded peers and Through beginner-friendly activites, members can learn skills such as identifying species by sight and sound and also learn about native species. Additionally, members can help foster a tight-knit Berean community that promotes curiosity and respect for their surroundings.

Pre-professional: While the Ornithology Club emphasizes on the hobbyist aspect of ornithology, the organization will also provide opportunities to students who wish to explore the professional aspect of ornithology. Opportunities include connecting with experts, obtaining field experience, doing projects, helping with conservation, and conducting citizen science.

Ornithology Club

Recognized Student Organization - Special Interest & Hobby-Based

Website

Contact: Conner Cook, Audrey Lapinski, Email group officers

Mission
Originally founded by Michael Mecham, the Ornithology Club is a bird-based student organization that is dedicated to exploring and learning about the world of birds. The Ornithology Club welcomes all who are interested; whether proficient, new, or simply interested, and whether hobbyist or pre-professional. If you wish to get involved, join us today!
-
GROUNDED BABY BIRD?
